 On October 12, 2017 - The NAACP Beverly Hills/Hollywood Branch's Theatre Viewing Committee announced nominations for the 27th Annual NAACP Theatre Awards. This year's nominee roster is overwhelmingly filled with multiple EMMY, Tony and previous NAACP Theatre award winners throughout all 31 categories. To honor such outstanding examples of black excellence in theatre, an extravagant dinner show will be held today Monday, February 26, 2018, 6:00 p.m. at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
In the category of "Best Supporting Actress" in a 99-seat theater, - Malika Blessing and Pia Days were both nominated from the play written by Scherrie Payne titled, "A Lady In Waiting.” "I'm so excited and happy for them! The Los Angeles Chinatown Firecracker 5/10K Run/Walk is the largest and longest-running Lunar New Year charity run in United States. Established in 1978, Firecracker has since grown to include a Bike Ride and Kiddie Run, and serves the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area with support from the City of Los Angeles. All proceeds are reinvested in the community, in support of elementary schools and non-profit organizations, providing service and programs that benefit local neighborhoods.
