As iconic in 2014 for her timeless beauty and stage appeal as she is for her artistic versatility,Freda Payne remains among music’s and show business’ brightest shining star survivors. Her latest album, Come Back To Me Love (her first for the Artistry Music imprint) marks not only a return to the big band and strings-laden classics from her mid-`60s beginnings with Impulse! but also marks a return to her hometown of Detroit. That makes this 14-song album featuring Grammy® award-winner Bill Cunliffe’s musical arrangements—from the vibes-kissed Kenny Rankin waltz “Haven’t We Met” to the lonely evening fireplace musings of “Lately”—a beautiful homecoming. “It’s a dream come true,” Payne enthuses with a smile, “Just like in 1968 when I was living in New York seeking my fame and fortune, and ran into Brian Holland of Holland-Dozier-Holland. He told me they had just left Motown and started their own company, Invictus. I flew back to Detroit, signed with them and a year later had a Top 5 record, ‘Band of Gold.’ So releasing this album on Mack Avenue’s Artistry Music imprint is truly serendipitous—a flashback to something really good happening for me at home in Detroit, my good luck charm.” Berry did write those three songs for me. However, they were never released. It was only a few years later she landed her first record deal in New York with ABC Paramont. Her first single was called Slightly Out Of Tune. A song made famous by jazz musician Stan Gretz. The company then put her on their jazz label, Impulse. Visit www.fredapayne.com for more event information.

Don B. Welch presents Scherrie Payne's Play "A Lady In Waiting" - Sunday August 26th at 5pm7/30/2018
"Will You Ever Come Back To Me?” was written by Coco Street for a melodic instrumental interlude on Terrence Parker’s 2017 Planet E Release, “God Loves Detroit.” The Lyrics sparked a frenzy of creativity for Coco and Lala. Coco first approached long time collaborator Gareth Dicks (House Of Praise UK). Together they created the drum n bass and dub mixes for this release under the name “Damaged Goods.”
Producer and DJ, Laladee took her version in an entirely different direction. With Coco’s vocals recorded at the Rattle Room in Burbank, CA, the Tech House track, entitled “House Me Rouge,” is an odyssey of layered soundscapes that takes the listener on a sonic journey in four distinct movements. Laladee then took her diverse talents to the forests of Albuquerque, New Mexico where she directed, filmed, and edited the project’s poignant lyric video. Rounding out the project is Norwegian producer, Dalminjo, who brings his soulful chill vibe with a deep, subby house groove that is sure to pack out the dance floor with Steppers and Hustlers alike.
